Melissa is a passionate music educator originally from southeast Michigan, now based in Mesa, AZ. She moved to Arizona in 2021 to pursue her Bachelor of Music Education at Northern Arizona University, where she focused on classical guitar under the guidance of Professor Philip Hemmo and Dr. Josh Moore. During her time at NAU, she also studied violin with Dr. Jacqueline Schwandt and performed with the NAU Symphony for four years. Melissa has participated in master classes with internationally acclaimed guitarists and currently performs with the Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra.
With experience teaching private guitar and violin lessons, Melissa has also worked in a variety of classroom settings—from elementary general music to high school orchestra and music theory. She has served as a Teaching Assistant for college-level theory courses and taught at both NAU’s Curry Music Camp and a major fine arts camp in Michigan. Melissa specializes in classical and country/pop guitar as well as classical violin. Her flexible, student-centered teaching style focuses on helping each student reach their personal musical goals. Outside of music, she enjoys hiking, reading, exercising, and exploring all that Arizona has to offer.
