What Is the Accelerated Music Learning Lab?
Music learning labs with Musicians Made enhance the experience of learning an instrument for children and adults around Queen Creek and Mesa. These labs combine lessons and practice, allowing individuals to learn at their own pace, get through more material, and alleviate the common pressure with practice time. They are one-on-one style lessons that are delivered in small, multi-stationed rooms. Students will have their own electronic instrument, headphones, and an iPad with play along tracks and gamified learning. Teachers train & teach students while also then giving them time to practice the concepts being taught in a 55 minute format. It’s a great option for beginners as well as those with some experience with certain instruments.
As students follow along with the lessons, our teachers are there to teach students, to provide help and feedback that builds confidence and understanding in playing their instrument. The individualized lessons allow for a low-pressure and distraction-free environment for kids, so they don’t feel they need to keep up with others. Sessions are 55 minutes, which is longer than standard music lessons. This allows them to ask questions after practicing what was taught instead of trying to figure things out by themselves at home.
How the Music Learning Lab Works
Our music labs have four to five individual learning stations for students. Each has an electronic instrument, an iPad, and two pairs of headphones: one for the student and one for the teacher. When students arrive, they can immediately start their music lessons. Our teachers constantly monitor the room to assess how students are doing while also teaching students individually. Lessons provide bite-sized information and then allow for time to practice, so students can learn foundational concepts and information with ease.
Students will also have two practice cards on hand to let the instructor know if they are understanding the material or need assistance. Green cards let teachers know that students are ready to show their progress, so teachers can listen in using the second set of headphones at the student’s station. Red cards notify teachers that students need help or have questions. If teachers are with another student, they will finish helping them and then immediately assist those in need or who are ready to show their progress.
